Defending Civil Rights & Election Integrity

When my civil rights were violated and serious election law concerns arose, I did not stay silent.

My partner and I, through the Justice League of Oregon, formally challenged actions by Clackamas County and the Oregon Elections Division. We believed election violations had occurred and that our constitutional rights were not being upheld. Rather than walk away, we exercised our right as citizens to seek redress.

Together, as candidates, we took our case all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States, filing pro se and co-authoring the petition without the use of an attorney. Regardless of outcome, the principle matters: citizens have the right to challenge government action when they believe their constitutional protections have been violated.

The right to petition the government for redress of grievances is fundamental to our Republic. When that right is weakened or ignored, public trust erodes. When transparency is lacking, accountability suffers.

An honest and responsive government depends on:

  • Election systems that are transparent and lawful

  • Equal protection under the law

  • Protection of constitutional rights

  • Access to fair legal processes

  • Respect for citizens who raise concerns

Government must never dismiss the voices of the people it serves. Safeguarding civil rights and election integrity is not partisan, it is foundational. Citizens must always retain the ability to challenge their government peacefully, lawfully, and constitutionally. That right must be protected and preserved if we are to maintain trust in our institutions.
