About Dana Hindman-Allen
I am a 5th generation Oregonian who grew up in the West Hills of Portland and graduated from Lincoln High School back when Portland was a clean, artsy, vibrant and eclectic city. I went on to complete my education at Mount Hood Community College and Graduated cum laude with a Bachelors in Human Development from Warner Pacific University. We made the decision to move just east of Sandy - the area I always loved to recreate - in 2000 where I raised my now adult two girls with my husband. In leisure time we enjoy hiking and horseback riding in the beautiful Mount Hood Forest. I am currently serving on the Clackamas County Parks Board since October 2021 and am an advocate for our Community Parks system that provides a retreat for citizens to rest, relax and recreate.
I genuinely care about the direction our State and County are going, and want to see the quality of life improve for the people. A few facts about my ancestry is my Great Great Aunt Nan Wood Honeyman had a historical win and was the first women ever to win a Congressional seat in Oregon in 1936, in District #3 as well as serving in the Oregon House and Senate! Also my Great Great Grandfather Charles C. Hindman served in the Oregon House of Representatives in 1921. This is a legacy on my father’s side of my family, which I would like to carry on. Nan was a champion for civil rights and so am I!
In my life I have enjoyed a career in financing as a Residential Mortgage Broker and an Educational assistant for the Oregon Trail School District for 10 years as well as a substitute teacher for 3 years. With my performing arts experience of industrial, film and commercials I created, directed and produced a volunteer-run full scale after school Drama program for 4 years at the Oregon Trail Academy. After leaving the education field I have dedicated my efforts and built a current thriving successful Real Estate business in the Metro area for the last 12 years.
I am are proud to live in one of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the Country and share a state with people who genuinely care about common sense environmental stewardship. The coastal, high desert and mountains of Oregon are unparalleled.
The last several years have revealed a breakdown in some aspects of Government and its role in people’s lives. The partnership between the public and those that govern has been off balance, affecting confidence in the system. Public trust is at an all-time low. I am frustrated with politicians putting their own interests above those to whom they are supposed to serve. Oregon has been pummeled by destructive short-sighted policies from lawmakers. The Government needs improvement, their policies affect us at the State level which in turn trickles down to the County and local municipalities. Therefore it is important to have principled, ethical leaders serving the citizens. We must also protect our Constitution to preserve our grand self-government and ensure everyone has a seat at the table to voice their opinions and concerns. Citizens need relief not more burdens, we must bring balance, stability and accountability to public servants. We must keep our fiscal house in order, and remember that it is the peoples contribution of their hard work that keeps our government and economies running.
I value where I live, we are all worried about the rising crime and cost of living. We need to unite and work together to ensure communities remains intact, safe, and beautiful. I can provide new perspective and increased efficiency where needed. I firmly stand against the tolling of the highways that we already pay for and I uniquely understand the challenges with protecting our most vulnerable citizens. I believe that we can protect our independence and quality of life throughout Clackamas, and be an inspiration to surrounding Counties to do the same.
